Former Miss World (2000) and Bollywood’s leading actress, Priyanka Chopra was born in Jamshedpur. Her father was in the army and she traveled around the country extensively. For a short duration she studied in the USA before returning to India to complete high school.
As a young girl she had aspirations to become a software engineer or a criminal psychologist. But things changed once she won the Femina Miss India beauty pageant. Her winning the prestigious Miss World title followed this success. She was the fifth Indian woman to win the title in a span of just seven years. In the year 2002 she joined Bollywood and hasn’t looked back ever since.
Her first movie to her reckoning was ‘Andaaz’ for which she won the Filmfare Award for the ‘Best Debut’ in 2003. This was followed by an award for the Best Villain in 2004 for ‘Aitraaz’, Stardust Awards (2004) - Best Supporting Actress in ‘The Hero, Love story of a Spy’ and in 2005 for Superstar of Tomorrow - Female for the movie ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and was nominated for a host of other movies.
